Rusty Bindings holds BBQ meetings at the "Pleasant Hill Park" located on the corner of Cleveland and Gregory Lane in Pleasant Hill every other Tuesday during the summer months. Barbeque and good food is the central theme of these meetings. Bring something to put on the grill and a side dish to share. (BYOB). BBQs generally begin around 6pm.
Many of our members are avid cyclists. We have a Monday night road bike ride in the warmer weather and after we gather at a local restaurant for food and libations. Not to be left out we also have a mountain biking group that rides year round. Saturday mornings also find members hitting the trail. Throughout the year we also have trips to places such as Napa and Monterey. Camping trips frequently have a group organizing a ride.
Before our Memorial Day and Labor Day Picnics we have a friendly game of Softball. Each time we play we split up into teams, choose team names (they tend to be different each time we play, likely due to the players being different each time we play) and practice for about a half an hour. Thos RB'ers that don't play make up a lively cheering section, often with megaphones and custom cheers.
While not an RB sponsored activity, during the summer we join another club from Southern California for waterskiing in the delta. This is usually scheduled twice a summer. This a family friendly event featuring camping for several nights, barbecuing and general merriment!
These are signature events of our club! Dive'n Dine is our annual camping trip to Mendocino. Our divers go up early and dive for Abalone. We arrive on Friday in time for a potluck and campfire. Saturday features hikes, bike rides, shopping/sightseeing in Mendocino and our Saturday Night ABALONE FEED! Camp'n Dine is our trip to Lake Tahoe. A beautiful, spacious group camp leaves plenty of room to spread out. Of course we hike, bike, shop, gamble and EAT.
During the warmer months (usually June to mid September) we hold our weekly meetings at Pleasant Hill Park in Pleasant Hill. After we have finished barbecuing and our meeting is over we move over to the volleyball court, take off our shoes and play a lively game of sand volleyball.
Many of our members also play golf. At least once a year we have a golf tournament. Our tournaments are usually scrambles. All levels are welcome as we try to mix the experienced with the novice players to even the competition. We meet after the game for food, drink and PRIZES! May the best team win!!
